This National Guard position is for a DETAILED INSPECTOR GENERAL, Position Description Number T5233P01 and is part of the INSPECTOR GENERALS OFFICE, National Guard.
This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Duties
As a Detailed Inspector General, GS-1801-12, you will report to the State/JFHQ IG on discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training, and readiness of the State National Guard. Provides assistance to Soldiers, Airmen, and their family members on a wide range of issues and subjects.
Requirements

- Employee must be a citizen of the United States by birth or naturalization.
- Employee must have moral attributes and personal traits that demonstrate adherence to Army and Air Force Values, and the Army Civilian Corps Creed.
- Employee must have no record of criminal punishment except for minor offenses or derogatory information contained in IG records as screened by the USAIGA and SAF-IG.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- Position requires travel to support National Guard units statewide. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; knowledge of applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; skill in interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening; ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects; skill in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws; ability to enunciate without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communications; ability to write reports and presentation formats; and ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Must have knowledge of established management principles and operating procedures plus skill in applying fact-finding and investigative techniques to gather clear-cut factual evidence of waste and abuse, or compliance with regulations. Must have experience applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues/inspections or investigations/inquiries concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations (discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training and readiness) carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions (i.e., internal activities or functions such as supply, budget, procurement, or personnel which serve to facilitate line or program operations). Must have knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources (people, money, or equipment) in the area studied. Must have experience analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs, along with knowledge of the mission, organization, and work processes of programs throughout a military command, complex multi-mission JFHQ (St), or equivalent, and the relationships of administrative support activities (e.g., data processing accounting, budget) to such missions.
