Social Work Supervisor manages the administrative and clinical aspects of Service, supervising Social Workers (at the GS-12 Level), Nurses and others of various disciplines including Program Coordinators. Supervised work will be carried out throughout the (GCVHCS) which extends from Biloxi MS, through Mobile, AL, Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola, and Panama City, FL. Supervisor is responsible for the professional and administrative management of advanced areas of Social Work Service in care lines.

Providing clinical supervision to social workers and other consultations to VA medical facility staff on Social Work practice issues. Case management services for Veterans at high medical or psychosocial risk, including those Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Case management services for chronic or seriously mentally ill Veterans. To include but not limited to transport of Veterans to receive resource services, on a regular and recurring basis. Psychosocial screening, assessment, planning, and intervention. Pre-admission planning and admission diversion services. Discharge planning and coordination. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker, GS-13 Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. (b) Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. (c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. (d) Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. (e) Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. The position is above full performance level, GS-13. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-13. Physical Requirements: Physical aspect of the work required of this assignment are typical for the occupation duties. See Duties section for the essential job duties. May require standing, lifting, sitting, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. May be required to wear personal protective equipment and undergo annual TB screening, as conditions of employment. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or other hospital and/or clinic areas. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, work environment requires someone with the ability to handle several tasks and once during stressful situations.
