This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA J9/HOSTING AND COMPUTE (HAC).

Duties

Serves as a senior specialist in Vulnerability Assessment and Management, Cybersecurity Management, and Cyber Defense Analysis. Oversees the cybersecurity program of an information system or network to include managing information security implications within the organization, specific program, or other areas of responsibility, and other resources. Uses defensive measures and information collected from a variety of sources to identify, analyze, and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats. Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Participates in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies. Facilitates the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes. Conducts assessments of threats and vulnerabilities; determines deviations from acceptable configurations, enterprise or local policy; assesses the level of risk; and develops and/or recommends appropriate mitigation countermeasures in operational Coordinates a variety of complex and unusual information security issues. Monitors and evaluates systems, compliance with IT security policies and requirements.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • This is a drug testing position.
  • This is a mission essential position.
  • Incumbent may be subject to varying work shifts and work shift rotation for mission support requirement of 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
  • Incumbent is subject to recall or call back during off shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Experience planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information system security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
