This Position is located at the Kayenta Service Unit, Inscription House Health Center (IHHC), Facility Management Branch, Security Unit, Inscription House, Arizona. IHHC Is an operating division of the Kayenta Service Unit (KSU). The Incumbent is responsible for the safe and secure environment of care for patients, staff, visitors, and housing occupants. The security force conducts patrols and surveillance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Duties
Supervises the security force at Inscription House Health Center (IHHC).
Prepares work schedule for guards to provide for adequate security coverage
Conducts and/or directs investigation of complaints and violation of regulations by staff, patients and visitors
Develops and evaluates work performance of subordinates, advises, counsels or instructs employees on work and administrative matters
Collects Performance Improvement (PI) and reports data to ensure the department has a smooth operation
Responsible for maintaining the Security Department budget
Monitors/controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas
Patrols the facility and quarters areas (by vehicle or foot) to check alarms, locks, fences, gates, or other barriers to assure they are closed and locked or open and unlocked, depending on the time of the day and the conditions that apply
Performs coordinator duties involving passing of directions and information to Police Officers, coordinating emergency responses between security, fire and other emergency units, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
GS-7: Candidate must have completed one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the normal line of progression.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as; Planning and implementing security/protective programs; prepare security related reports; write/update department policies and procedures. Supervise Security personnel; prepare staff schedule; assign work to staff; resolve staff complaints; enforce minor disciplinary measures; identifies staff training needs/ Serve as a principle advisor on security related matters; patrolling grounds/building enforcing security rules and regulations.
Investigation of Fitness: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S. Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
