About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Officer in the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA.

Duties

Responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and executing a variety of administrative programs and procedures to facilitate accomplishment of organizational operations. Applies a well-founded knowledge of administrative plans, programs, policies, and procedures during the conduct of all assigned duties and responsibilities. Manages and performs a wide variety of administrative support services. Provides advice and assistance to all division personnel regarding the proper application of administrative policies, procedures, and Department of Army regulations. Utilizes knowledge of established procedures and formats when reviewing and preparing official correspondence. Serves as the Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA) for the Defense Travel System (DTS) and point of contact for the government travel card program. Prepares official travel documentation such as authorizations and settlement vouchers in accordance with established policies and procedures. Receives, reviews, and authorizes requests for the purchase of organization supplies, services and training.

Requirements

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • In this position work may require irregular and/or weekend hours.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Incumbent may be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-07 Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience which includes experience in ALL of the following areas: (1) performing administrative functions to include personnel and records management; (2) providing training support; AND (3) utilizing various automated office systems to create, edit, format and distribute various correspondence, documents and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-09 Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience which includes experience in ALL of the following areas: 1) Performing administrative duties and providing guidance and assistance on the functional aspects of office administration programs and policies; 2) Planning, managing, coordinating and executing a variety of administrative programs and procedures to facilitate organizational operations; AND 3) Preparing, reviewing, formatting and distributing various official correspondence to both request and convey information in accordance with established policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
