About the Position: To perform the full range of warehousing duties with responsibility of handling-or overseeing one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB)

Duties

Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective rece1vmg operation. Independently performs a complete range of receiving assignments. Verifies quantities received with receiving reports and takes appropriate action. Unloads incoming shipments, scans bar codes, or keys receipt information into automated record system. Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective storage operation. Independently performs a complete range of storage, re-warehousing, and consolidation assignments such as placing, arranging, rotating, marking, and tagging of items on pallets and in bin, bulk, or other storage locations. Lays out storage space and establishes item and material locations providing for maximum space utilization. Selects and assembles items for issuance/shipment based on priority, type of material, mode of transportation, destination, and type of transaction.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position
  • As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of material handling duties.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. I can Check and assemble materials, process shipping/distribution documents, route materials and equipment to correct locations or storage areas; Unpack boxes, cartons, and other containers and disassembles and distributes unit loads received; Check supplies for nomenclature, stock number, quantity and condition. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Works on hard surfaces· and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with weightlifting equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
