About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Engineer Lab (CRREL). This position is located in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Duties

Serves as secretary and principal management assistant to the Deputy Director and Executive Office. Interprets incoming actions and correspondences based on content and understanding of organizational function. Assigns actions to staff annotating requirements for completion and target dates. Extends assistance and guidance on administrative policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with officials on status updates and reports for priority issues. Generates correspondences to include memorandums, reports, and briefings. Prepares employee time/attendance and travel arrangements within the organization.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-03 (GS-7). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes InformationOrganizational AwarenessTechnical CompetenceWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). This announcement MAY be used to fill like vacancies six months from the closing date. All qualification requirements, including time after competitive appointment, must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-04 (equivalent to GS-8/10).
