You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will follow safety practices and procedures in the operation of vehicles.
You will interpret instructions or specifications related to bus operations, preventive maintenance, and passenger safety.
You will load, arrange, and secure cargo into vehicle using techniques and equipment (e.g., chains, binders, straps, tie-downs) for safe transit.
You will operate vehicles with the gross weight of more than 32,000lbs; vehicles that are oversized and/or equipped with more than one body or two braking systems.
You will perform minor repairs or adjustments on vehicles.
You will perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Requirements

- Incumbent must possess a California class "B" Commercial Driver License with 'P' and 'H' endorsements
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Operate gasoline, diesel, propane or other fueled vehicles including vehicles up to 32,000lbs; 2) Load and unloads materials/equipment. 3) Reports any defects in vehicle operations. 4) Using predetermined routes. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
