Duties

You will plan and accomplish work from initial layouts to final assembly through interpreting building plans, blue prints, specification, sketches and other plumbing guides/codes. You will perform maintenance and repair of all fixtures and piping systems. You will install hot and cold water piping systems in all types of buildings using copper and wrought iron pipe. You will install water mains and sewer lines using cement plastic pipe compound for plastic pipe, septic tanks and leach lines. You will issue tools, equipment, parts, procure materials, parts and tools. You will work in the shop repairing tools, equipment, prefabing, plumbing, and piping. You will cut, thread and ream pipe, ranging in size from 1/2" to 2" in diameter. You will operate power driven pipe threading machines, sewer augers, portable pumps, air compressors, power driven abrasive cutter, drill press, grinding machines and portable drills.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be subject to call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • You may be required to lift/carry weight up to 45 pounds for short distances.
  • You must have normal vision and hearing with or without corrective devices, depth perception and the ability to distinguish basic color to differentiate color coded valves etc.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Do the Work of te Position without More than Normal Supervision. Duties performed in this position include: Maintenance, repair and replacement of building plumbing, water mains, service lines, sewage mains, and laterals and fuel gas systems. Use of hand portable tools and power driver equipment in the performance of the daily duties of the position.
