This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
Receiving work jacket or copy of work jacket and deliver slips, etc; checking out completed jobs by verifying quantities and packaging requirements with jacket.
Checking/inspecting jobs in process to ensure instructions are fulfilled properly.
Documenting and maintaining files; searching for and locating work jackets, bundles, sheets, etc., which have been misrouted; checking on shortages and other discrepancies and reports to supervisor.
Ordering labels, forms, wrapping materials, etc.
Delivering work using a power truck and/or electric hand jack.
Requirements
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to maintain a license for an electric hand jack or fork truck.
- Selectee must undergo a background investigation for a Public Trust.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify for the PPW (Checker), KX-4401-6,applicants must meet the following Screen Out-Element: #1 (Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision), to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will not receive further consideration.
The screen-out element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. In addition to the requirement above, applicants must have the following knowledge and ability: Reading instructions and determining number of cartons, bundles, sheets, etc.
Ensuring jobs are delivered to platform and/or shipping, weighed properly, documentation is accurate, and work is processed in a timely manner. Checking out completed jobs by verifying quantities and packaging requirements with jacket instructions, or by verifying jacket/copy quantities required with weight counts received.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
