About the Position: You will work as a member of the Field Technical Support Section, a maintenance force on the Okeechobee Waterway and Central and South Florida Area of Operation incorporating 6 Locks and Dam facilities, 5 recreation facilities, floating plant, construction equipment, and numerous flood control structures.
Duties
The incumbent performs journeyman level maintenance to electrical, electronic, hydraulic and mechanically interrelated facilities and equipment.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, analyze and identify system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.
Possess the ability to organizes work, set priorities, determine equipment repair and maintenance requirements, obtain resources and materials.
Possess ability to interpret instructions and specifications related to facility structures and equipment using technical references, documentation, blueprints and operational procedures.
Perform installation of new equipment, maintenance, repair, overhaul or replacement of parts, systems, equipment, etc., normally associated with the building, grounds and utilities of such facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires a valid State motor vehicle operator's license.
- Position falls under condition of employment for certain Civilian Positions identified Critical under the Department of the Army Drug FREE Federal Workplace Program.
- Must be willing to take and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and must be willing and able to pass random drug and alcohol tests thereafter.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work requires frequent standing, stooping, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifts, and carries larger assemblies or complete units exceeding 50 pounds. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body in installing, repairing, operating, or testing equipment in confined spaces such as manholes, machinery recesses, lock walls, or on overhead structures; climbs ladders, scaffolding, and works from suspended stages.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works inside and outside during the day or night, subject to inclement weather, on high structures usually over water which is frequently turbulent, in the proximity of moving machinery and high places.
