The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Executive Services Specialist, assisting the Commander, Deputy Commander, Command Chief and Director of Staff with administrative actions in execution of daily operations for the 437th Airlift Wing.
Duties
Serve as the executive advisor to the Wing Commander on programs and initiatives. Maintains cognizance of the effectiveness and status of Wing programs, activities, suspenses; internal metrics and/or productivity reports; management performance indicators; inspection, staff assistance, and audit reports; and from visual observations and personal contacts with the Group/Wing, AMC, and HAF staff and operating personnel.
Plans and organizes executive support services, functions, and activities. Performs and participates in studies to determine mission support requirements from the Wing perspective.
Focal point for and provides quality control review of civilian and military personnel management activities to include training, performance appraisals, awards and decorations and other related areas. Coordinates on requests for training, funding, manpower, and other resource/tool requirements needed for mission accomplishment.
Maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences. Utilizes Defense Travel System (DTS) or other forms of communication to plan all facets of travel arrangements for supervisor when necessary.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working knowledge of the Installation, Wing and Group functions, program goals, work processes, organizational structure, schedule and conduct projects, studies, evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of special projects, plans and operations. Working knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys and the similarities and differences among software types to produce a wide range of documents, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Working knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly.
OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts.
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however, and have at least one year of progressively higher level graduate education, but have not obtained a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of organization missions and staff operations management concepts, principles, methodologies, major issues, goals, objectives, and organizational structure.
2. Knowledge of theory and principles of management and organization including administrative practices and procedures common to the organization.
3. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature.
4. Ability to develop, prepare, coordinate, staff, and implement administrative procedures, programs and directives.
5. Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze information to support organizational decision-making.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
