About the Position: Serves as an Exercise Planning Specialist for the Mission Command Training Program located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
This position is eligible for regular and recurring telework - as determined by the agency policy.
Duties
Oversees the simulation support, logistical support, and information management functions of the Operations Group (OPSGRP) and activities requiring concurrence/approval and involvement of the Chief EXCON, Operations Group.
Assists in the operation of OPSGRP Archive System, website, and development/publication/distribution of Products and Services Directory.
Incumbent plays a significant role in assisting operational-level headquarters in training design at exercise Concept Development Conferences and other Joint Exercise Life Cycle meetings.
Reviews directive material prepared by various agencies that affect organizational matters and conformance with overall policies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- SECRET CLEARANCE: Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- May be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
- This position has a TDY requirement of 50% of extensive travel worldwide in support of OPSGRP programs and exercises.
- Must meet and sustain requirements to deploy worldwide to hazardous duty areas.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying analytical and evaluative methods/techniques to complete complex exercise development studies/projects; and 2) Assisting in exercise design to include; tactical, operational, and strategic level operations in order to plan for support to training units. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
