Duties
You will adjust brakes, transmission linkages, engine idle, voltage and current control valves, sensing valves, expansion valves, or pressure regulator valves to maintain vehicles.
You will analyze test results to locate improperly functioning vehicle parts for repair or replacement.
You will operate electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, computer diagnostic scanners, electronic engines analyzers, opacity meter, dynamometers, dial indicators, micrometers, calipers) to diagnose vehicle problems.
You will follow instructions in technical manuals or drawings to run operational checks on vehicle components.
You will determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to perform automotive work.
You will test automotive computer control systems and emission systems using on-board computer diagnostic systems or other test equipment.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You are required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You are required to frequently lift/carry items weighing items up to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting items weighing 50 pounds or more with mechanical devices or with the assistance of other workers.
- You will be subject to call back and emergency overtime as they are a regular requirement of this position.
- You are responsible for providing and maintaining your own tools.

Duties performed in this position include: Removing, cleaning and replacing ancillary parts of the automotive system (e.g., spark plugs, fan belts, generators, starts, brakes, filters and related components).
