About the Position:
This position will serve as a Training Instructor (FAADS/SHORAD) for the US Army Air Defense Artillery School, 30th ADA Bde, Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE) located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Duties
Instructs on the operations, function, troubleshoot procedures, checks and adjustments, and maintenance of SHORAD systems, Maneuver-SHORAD systems, FAADS systems.
Follows the approved programs of instruction (POI) and prepares lesson plans for each subject.
Prepares and administers examinations, evaluates test results, correlates test results with other measures of student ability and provides recommendations to academic deficiency panels on changes and student status.
Analyzes training materials to assure instructional techniques are effective and efficient.
Conducts validation and reliability studies to determine overall educational effectiveness of training products.
Modifies and/or updates existing courses and develops training material for the Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems, Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense systems (Maneuver-SHORAD), Forward Area Air Defense systems.
Assists in the preparation and submission of changes to proponent military occupational specialties (MOS) descriptions.
Reviews incoming doctrinal literature from other schools and TRADOC for possible effects on Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems, Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense systems (Maneuver-SHORAD), Forward Area Air Defense systems collective training.
Serves as a member of academic deficiency panels; serves as class advisor; counsels students.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- May be required to conduct irregular hours of instruction.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Expenses may be authorized.
- Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 25% or more.

This is a TERM NTE 13-month position. Position may be filled as a TERM Appointment NTE 3 YEARS. TERM appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, TERM appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a TERM appointment will be appointed/converted into a TERM appointment with no statuary return rights back to a permanent position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Designing instructional courses focused on Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems; 2) Evaluating training material regarding Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems; and 3) Participating in workshops to determine instructional settings regarding Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Adult Education. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
