You will serve as a Library Technician in the Library of NAVAL WAR COLLEGE.

Duties

You will perform all duties and procedures pertaining to library print and non-print material using the Integrated Library System (ILS) and bibliographic resources. You will coordinate the use of library materials and recommend the purchase of additional copies, when necessary, based on circulation records. You will maintain files relating to curriculum materials. You will determine best source for ordering requested items. You will check in and checkout library collections (e.g., volumes, periodical subscriptions, microforms) for students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. For the GS-5:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Locating information and materials in a library collection by using an automated library management system; 2) Explaining circulation policies and procedures to library patrons; 3) Shelving books and locating misfiled materials; and 4) Assisting patrons with all user-access equipment. For the GS-4:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-5:
Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience

For the GS-4:
Successful completion of at least two full academic years of education above high school
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
