You will serve as a PHYSICAL FITNESS SPECIALIST in the PHYSICAL FITNESS SECTION (N921B) of NSA WASHINGTON.

Duties

You will design training session based on fitness test results, client goals, and current fitness program trends. You will design a range of group exercise classes (e.g. strength, step, spin, yoga, etc.) of varying sizes including modifications for workouts to allow participation of clients of multiple fitness levels or those with past injury. You will instruct classes within or outside the facility, demonstrating proper form, breathing techniques, and use of equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The incumbent is subject to the certification and training requirements listed in CNIC MWR Program Instruction for fitness specialists.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing new staff with required new hire orientation, training, and management 2) Distributing tasks, such as facility closing responsibilities, equipment cleaning and cashier duties; 3) Advising on work methods, practices and procedures; 4) Informing staff of facility and equipment issues; 5) Advising on customer service issues. Education

Basic education requirements for the GS-0101, Professional Social Science Series:

Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
