THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a T32 MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (MI-FMS2), Position Description Number AB00910570308 and is part of the MI FMS 2, Michigan Army National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** DUTIES 1. Motor Vehicle Operator: Operates a variety of vehicles and support units with up to 30-ton capacity (truck tractor w/full trailer, 5/6 ton flats and/or box truck w/forklift trailer, etc.) to transport a variety of ammunition, explosives, missiles, missile components and inert items. Will occasionally drive other types and sizes of vehicles when required by workload. Work situations within the confines of the installation, will require driving in congested industrial areas, various weight limits, multiple types of intersections, sharp curves, steep hills and rural type roadways and the demands of driving on public roads. 2. Material Handling: Loads and unloads cargo; segregates items according to condition code, lot number, quantity, compatibility, etc./ stores, stacks and palletizes items. Ensures proper storage practices performed/ assembles items for movement; selects items for issue or movement. Checks the condition of items before movement; re- warehouses high explosives, ammunition components, guided missiles, rockets, etc. 3. Packing: Selects appropriate methods of packing a material to be used in packing on the basis of class of items (classified according to shape, mounting provisions and resistance to shock). Check items received against the accompanying condition of packaging. Notes manner in which items should be wrapped and types of material to be used. Inspects seals and other protective material to insure material provide the protection.

Requirements

  • ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Michigan Army National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the Michigan Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • Must have a valid civilian driver's license.
  • Must be H8 qualified
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required with hazard endorsement. CDL is required within 120 days of employment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E1 - E7 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 12 Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations.
