You will serve as an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Directorate of DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY.
Duties
You will be responsible for establishing goals and broad policy objectives for Technology and Program Protection rooted in Security.
You will be the National Security Information Policy and Oversight (NSIPO) Division focal point for acquisition security matters.
You will advise senior officials on the protection of classified and controlled unclassified information, ensuring compliance with statutes, Executive Orders, and other authorities to safeguard organizational interests.
You will deliver responses to taskers for the NSIPO division director approval.
You will develop information security policies and security procedures that are in aligned with higher level policies, in accordance with governing statues or Executive Orders.
You will provide expert guidance on Information Security, ensuring alignment with DON and DoD policies. This includes developing training products, conducting inspections, and managing the DON classification management portfolio.
You will develop and maintain metrics, identify trends, establish benchmarks, reporting products to inform leadership on the status of the DON INFOSEC program.
You will prepare correspondence to support actions and decisions by DON Security Enterprise Senior Executives.
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day security tasks, and security classification management to include the creation of security documentation aligned with DON and DoD Policy.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification within 6 months. Declining to obtain (SPeD) certification or loss of certification is grounds for removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing, implementing, and/or monitoring policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods related to program protection and information security;
Experience designating the level of protection required for various types of information (e.g. documents, materials, devices, systems, etc.);
Experience developing and overseeing an organization's program protection and security training and certification requirements (e.g., managing resources).
