The primary purpose of this position is: To operationally manage all aspects of IT hardware and software assets for Buckley Space Force Base; to include acquisition, support, training, receipt and acceptance, physical inventory management, disposal and financial reporting.
Duties
Administers information systems. Monitors ongoing operation of network systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met.
Administers and Manages the Base Equipment Control Office (BECO).
Serves as project officer for recommending selection of and installing new computer systems and software, and maintaining all computer systems.
Provides training and assistance to customers.

- This position requires a physical/medical examination. The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
- The position requires extended periods of standing, walking, stretching, bending, stooping or carrying of loads of paper, tapes, or cards that may weigh as much as 20 kilograms (45 pounds).
Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes; Utilization of computer equipment, internal computer processes, application and utility programs and magnetic media. Applies a wide range of computer techniques, requirements, sources and procedures. Utilizes a wide range of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures and principles to identify system failures, take corrective actions to resume normal operations and implement procedures to allow for partial use until problems are resolved.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of DoD, Air Force and Space Force automated data processing and networking standards, policies and techniques.
2. Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and their interfaces; and higher level programming languages and other job control languages.
3. Knowledge of data content and output options for a variety of administrative, scientific and/or technical program applications that are processed on any of several multi-program operating systems.
4. Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems.
5. Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment and software; analyze computer network, software and hardware problems and develop effective and economical solutions; and train users on new computer systems.
6. Ability to remain knowledgeable on technological advances and subsequently advise management on effective strategies to utilize the advances to meet future requirements and make recommendations on developing and establishing policy.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
