This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Information, Tickets and Tours office aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. The incumbent provides customer service to authorized patrons by promoting and selling tickets to area recreation attractions. This position also serves as a source of information relating to wide variety of recreational and event activities both on board the Naval Station and off.
Duties
Assist patrons in organizing trips to tourist attraction and/or in purchasing of tickets to these same area venues to include theme parks, sporting events, dinner shows and concerts.
May assist patrons in reserving hotel accommodations and provide up to date information either face to face or via the telephone.
Verify patron eligibility for military discounts.
Assist in contacting various commercial activities and other agencies to obtain up to date information concerning pricing special discounts, availability and other pertinent information.
May assist in preparing stock replenishment orders, records and, maintain inventory as established by the ITT Manager.
Ring sales items up on a point of sales (POS) system and collect payments in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cash, check and credit card handling.
Assist with updating the price-listing when needed/instructed.
Responsible for a personal inventory of tickets and change fund.
Must ensure that inventory, cash, receipts are reconciled for accuracy.
May be required to make bank deposits of Western Union monies and receipts.
Will maintain current event files for all local and MWR attractions and events to include hours of operation for installation MWR facilities.
Ensure that brochures regarding attractions, special events, and accommodations as well as recreational publications are easily accessible to patrons.
Required to follow established procedures for securing all equipment, tickets, cash at the end of the workday.
Must ensure all doors are securely locked upon closing the facility.
The incumbent will offer, advise, and clarify all information relating to recreational activities, events, and venues that are supported by the installation ITT Office.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must reside within 50 miles of 32212.
Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity-based functions.
Ability to operate computerized Point of Sales (POS) cash register and have basic math and cash handling skills.
Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities.
Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.
Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities.
Must have strong customer service skills.
Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics for dissemination to customers.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.
Basic knowledge of local and Florida recreational attractions
Ability to confidentially work with persons of different background to include military and civilian personnel within a wide range of rates and ranks, as well as military retirees and family members.
Must present a neat professional appearance.
