Duties
Operate a forklift to load and unload materials in an outdoor and/or indoor environment.
Operate a variety of motor vehicles such as light and heavy-duty pickup trucks, vans, dump trucks, flatbeds, water tanker trucks, semis, lowboys, etc. to transport earth sand, stone, water equipment, supplies, and people.
Lead, train, and/or mentor other employees in the operation of engineering equipment in flat or rolling environments on an intermittent and non-continuing basis only.
Update and maintain records and reports regarding related operations. Enter data into automated systems as required.
Perform routine/minor preventative maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections on engineering equipment and/or motor vehicles.
Assist in the completion of major equipment/vehicle repairs and safety inspections with appropriate personnel.
Perform lower graded carpentry work such as measuring, cutting, constructing, installing, repairing and modifying wood and composite items such as signs, structures, etc.
Perform lower graded cement finishing work such as mixing, pouring, spreading and leveling cement and concrete surfaces and structures.
Requirements

- The incumbent is required to wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with the job.
Qualifications
Screen-out Element: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Applicants for the position must have operated, as a regular part of employment, a road grader along with one or more small and large wheeled diesel-powered equipment such as crawlers (D6), bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, brush-cutters, and/or front-end loaders.
You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.

Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort is required in constantly climbing in and out of different machines, and pushing and pulling levers continuously while machine is in operation. Work is strenuous because of the large equipment operated, the adjustments made, and the adverse operating conditions. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. The incumbent is required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and often puts forth similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment and tools.
Work Environment: The operation of large and complicated gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment in difficult circumstances increases exposure and risk of injury. The incumbent works both inside and outside and is exposed to hot and humid weather and/or extremely cold weather with temperatures ranging from below 0 to above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice, road oils, and other items such as loose gravel and rocks may create hazardous conditions. The operator is subjected to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, oils, solvents, and fumes from motors and exhausts. When working inside, the incumbent must ensure proper ventilation to minimize fumes caused by equipment or vehicles. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while servicing and operating equipment. The incumbent is required to follow all prescribed safety practices and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective hearing devices and hard hats to prevent injury.
