Duties
As a Counseling Psychologist, you will:
Provide the full range of psychological services on an outpatient basis for individuals who have emotional or family relations problems, acute or chronic mental or behavioral health issues and to patients who are exhibiting a wide range of complex problems related to personal or interpersonal challenges or deficits.
Create a safe and therapeutic environment for clients, and, within the guidelines of patient confidentiality, advise appropriate staff members on the problems arising during patient treatment.
Participate in the planning and implementation of comprehensive and continuing counseling and mental health programs and projects focused on the needs of the workforce.
Create and conduct trainings on mental health and wellness topics.
Work in collegial and collaborative fashion with other disciplines or other physicians, social workers, psychiatrists etc. and service agencies (e.g., county, state, federal, home health care).

Basic Qualifications:
Satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing mental or behavioral health counseling to individuals and groups; and planning and implementing continuing counseling and mental health programs and projects.
Selective Placement Factor:
Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid, fully unrestricted license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Psychologist. License must be from a U.S State, District of Columbia, commonwealth territory, or jurisdiction.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
