The selectee supervises the HVAC and refrigeration shop of the facilities Management Service at the Miami VA Healthcare System. Responsible for the operation, administration, and maintenance of the facilities HVAC units, refrigerators, and associated control systems, Must be able to make sound judgements when dealing with patients, staff, visitors, and management.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Recommend solutions to staffing problems, facilities management requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
Timely submission of reports, preparation of Position Descriptions, performance plans, daily time and attendance with timely completion of timecards, records of inspections and repairs, inventory of tools and equipment and materials requisitioned.
Must have complete knowledge and understanding of the various building automation and control systems.
Plan, organize and assign the use of workers, equipment facilities and tools on a day to day basis for the HVAC units.
Establish deadlines and priorities utilizing skills and personnel available.
Explain work requirements to personnel, coordinate the HVAC unit with other facility management units, services, contractors and sub-contractors.
Plan future work including budgeting, manpower and scheduling.
Work independently to plan and carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Position Description, written and verbal instructions from the operations supervisor and established hospital policies.

Physical Requirements: Perform work that requires the ability to use a wide variety of tools, lifting large heavy articles or assemblies, climbing ladders or scaffolding, reaching and pulling, bending in small work spaces around dust, dirt, noise, vapors, fumes, solvents and grease.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
