The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 633d Security Forces Squadron.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 633 SFS
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Represents 633 SFS/SF with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Makes comprehensive assessments and evaluations of the unit's goals/objectives which provide a basis for long range planning to enhance the management support capabilities of the SFS

- Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS): Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Position may be subject to random drug testing
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work. This may include overtime and/or irregular hours
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g. respirator mask)
- Disclosure of Political Appointments
- Incumbent must be able to operate Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position
- A pre-employment physical examination will be required
- Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties
- Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually
- Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, technique sand procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations
- Ability to direct ‘infantry/SWAT’ small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time
- Must obtain and maintain a government travel card
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals
- Bachelor’s degree is highly desired. Prior joint basing or joint assignment experience is desirable
- Police Officer Standardized Training (POST) certification, as determined by HAF, is required within one year of employment

This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
Department of Defense Physical Security Certification conferrals is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position
This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of personnel management (civilian and military), manpower, and services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices sufficient to develop, plan, budget, and coordinate activities, programs, installation security, law enforcement and customer interests and needs and knowledge of safety and security regulations practices, and procedures.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of personnel management (civilian and military), manpower, and services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices sufficient to develop, plan, budget, and coordinate activities, programs, installation security, law enforcement and customer interests and needs.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws, Air Force, Federal and DoD law enforcement and security rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, antiterrorism and physical security.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
