The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Lead Supply Technician. The incumbent will ensure supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by the New Mexico VA Healthcare System Logistics Service. The incumbent will lead three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to: Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload. Monitors working conditions. Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor. Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services. Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders. Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock. Receives supplies and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/20/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Unpack/uncrate supplies from shipping cartons; properly stores supplies and material in main/primary inventory areas; support wall-to-wall inventories; monitor expiration dates, rotate stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates; and instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
