You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES of NAVSUBASE KINGSBAY.

Duties

You will provide technical and administrative management with special emphasis on Emergency Response, Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Emergency Medical Services, and Safety. You will supervise all work and planning for the department including technical projects, training, personnel and crew assignments, vehicle and property justifications, pre-fire planning, site safety plans, reports, records, and log books. You will be responsible for carrying out the workforce mission of a Fire Division consisting of six fire stations. You will respond to emergencies as Incident Safety Officer or initial Incident Commander.

  • The employee is required to work Monday thru Friday with one shift 24 hours a week. Employee may be required to adjust work schedule which includes nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime and recall
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing administrative, complex technical Fire ground operations (e.g., assigning work requirements, directing firefighting operations, financial management, implementing plans and programs); providing training in fire protection efforts; and providing direction during emergency incidents. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II and Hazmat Incident Commander. National Registry EMT, Marine Firefighter-Must complete within one year of employment, Hazmat Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
