As an Environmental Protection Specialist you will lead efforts by NASA to implement the Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) tool at each Center. You will lead efforts to prepare and execute an Agency-wide plan to develop and implement HMMS. You will lead efforts to prepare a template for Center-specific HMMS transition and implementation plans. You will lead efforts to support each Center as they transition to and implement the HMMS tool at their center.
Duties
Lead NASA initiative to implement Hazardous Materials Management (HMMS) hazardous materials and hazardous waste modules at all Centers to facilitate hazardous materials proactive procurement, management, and tracking, and hazardous waste management.
Lead NASA initiatives to prepare and implement an Agency and Center specific HMMS implementation plans and portions of the Center specific TSCA compliance plans that involve HMMS implementation.
Lead NASA initiatives to collect, organize, and record hazardous materials and waste data for each Center into HMMS
Lead Environmental Management Division (EMD) outreach initiatives and efforts to engage and work with Centers as they transition to and implement the HMMS tool.
Support efforts to develop guidance and training to inform NASA personnel on the proper use of the HMMS tool. Support efforts to communicate HMMS requirements and practices to affected stakeholders.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

- If the individual selected is currently at the GS-14 grade level, they will be detailed at their current grade and step. If the individual is a current GS-13 they will be temporarily promoted to the GS-14 level.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Implementing Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) at a Center for tracking of hazardous materials and hazardous waste;
Preparing Center specific plans for the implementation of HMMS;
Designing and implementing a charging practice for reclaiming the costs to implement a hazardous materials or waste program;
Collaborating with Center Cross Functional Teams and Enterprise Communities of Practice.
