About the Position: This position is for a Training Specialist (Space Plans) with the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense School. The US Army Space & Missile Defense Command is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Duties

Designs instructional materials for full-length Army Space Training Strategy (ASTS) home station training, including Soldier level, executive level, and tailored courses. Plans validity and reliability studies and surveys of the ASTS related education and training. Instructs resident, distance learning and mobile training courses depending on availability of students. Follows the approved Program of Instruction (POI) and prepares lesson plans for each subject. Develops recommendations for space training programs based on operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Drug Test Required: This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of less than 40% of the time.
  • The position may require frequent travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain an instructor certification.
  • This position may require overtime and/or other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the experience requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with included experience developing instructional programs to include establishing the time and emphasis of each unit; developing course materials such as lesson plans and training aids; conducting platform instruction to an audience; AND evaluating space operations, concepts, doctrine, or training for accuracy. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band or equivalent grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02).
