About the Position: Responsible for technical and administrative supervision of a division performing ammunition renovation, maintenance, and demilitarization at Tooele Army Depot.

Duties

Explain work requirements, methods and procedures; instruct subordinates in new procedures; and provide direction when problems arise concerning maintenance and renovation of conventional ammunition. Adjust plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determine equipment, supplies and maintenance required for each operation. Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Identify employee training needs, initiate recommendations to provide necessary training. Orally briefs demilitarization operations within the areas of responsibility to the Command Group. Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of demilitarization operations. Review and approve cost estimates for all programs within area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11, Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA and E).
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition operations.
  • This position contains critical safety and/or security responsibilities, thus is subject to random drug testing requirements. This is in accordance with AR 600-85.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Experience destroying explosives, ammunition and propellants by detonation and burning and operated various engineering equipment to cut, grade, dig, excavate and level. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)Operation of Motor VehiclesReliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment OperatorWork Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves heavy physical effort in pushing, pulling, and depressing various levers, clutches, and breaks. Such work involves continuous control changes to maneuver engineer equipment. The operator in reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments uses physical effort. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 45 lb. The constant vibration of the equipment causes considerable strain and the jerking and jolting caused by operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed on the demolition range and outside on ramps and storage areas when weather is often inclement. There are assignments where dirt, grease, noise, and odors are often disagreeable. Equipment operating involves danger from various types of accidents, such as might result from overturning, breaking cables, or swinging loads. Subject to injuries from using hand tools in maintaining equipment. Subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
