Podiatry of the Veterans Health Administration serve the needs of America's veterans by providing the highest quality foot and ankle care and below-the-knee ulcer and wound care.
Duties
This Podiatry position will require travel to both the Delaware County and Norristown Community Based Outpatient Clinics(CBOC).

The Podiatrist will be responsible for performing the following:
His/her duties and responsibilities, clinically and administratively, in accordance with the guidelines developed for clinical privileges and the bylaws of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Coatesville, PA.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives as appropriate.
Travel to the main Coatesville VA Medical Center campus and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located at West Norriton and Delaware County to provide patient care.
Work effectively with patients and co-workers and treat other health care professionals and patients' families with respect and dignity.
Report administratively and clinically to the Chief of Podiatry. In addition, this individual may report to the Associate Chief of Primary Care to which he/she is assigned.
Complete medical and minor surgical management of Podiatric pathology.
Prescription of pharmaceutical and therapeutical devices(orthotics, prosthetic devises, plaster or fiberglass casts, and immobilization devices, etc.)
Appropriate consultation, referrals, and co-management of patients with complicating systemic conditions.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm two days a week and 8:00am - 12:00pm one day per week
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Citizenship: Candidates must be a United States Citizen -AND-
Education: Applicants must possess a doctor of podiatric medicine degree, or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in podiatric medicine and surgery. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. (1) Approved schools are the United States schools of podiatric medicine and surgery, approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education of the American Podiatry Medical Association in the year in which the degree was granted. -AND-
Licensure or Registration: Applicants must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The podiatrist must maintain current registration in the state of licensure if this a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. -AND-
Residency Training: Podiatrists much have completed residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, OR (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training.
Grade Determination:
Staff Podiatrist Medical: None beyond the basic requirements. The individual must have completed an accredited residency, and/or possess experience to perform general podiatric duties and some specialized functions and procedures, without supervision. Staff podiatrists may also include attending podiatrists who train physician residents, assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine. These podiatrists perform office based procedures only.
Preferred Experience: Experience in wound care, Board Certified with either the American Board of Podiatric Medicine or the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
