This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Defense Industrial Base Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. .

Duties

Perform final repair, overhaul, and modification of a variety of commercial construction vehicles Receive verbal instructions, work orders, or inspection reports outlining the deficiencies and repairs to be accomplished. Use voltmeters, micrometers, torque wrenches, drill presses, and other hand tools common to the trade. Diagnoses defects, determines work methods and trade techniques to be used in accomplishing the rebuild and/or repair and adjustment of one major system. Performs pre-shop analysis of commercial construction vehicles, diagnoses defects and determines the extent of repairs required, and if engine must be completely disassembled, repaired and rebuilt

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include working with engines or power packs from the vehicles, transmissions, suspension and brake systems, power and mechanical steering systems. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors and involves frequent exposure to exhaust fumes.
