About the Position: The Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating of emergency responses and programs on the installation. This position is assigned to the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS), Presidio of Monterey
Duties
Organize, plan, and coordinate various emergency response programs with Federal, state, and local entities.
Serve on boards and working groups; brief various government agencies and solicit their comments; and negotiate on plan implementation and feasibility.
Develop program for providing necessary emergency guidance as well as required training to installation personnel.
Support the installation operational security program.
Develop and post current information concerning actual and hypothetical disasters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is considered Emergency-Essential in support of DA's mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increased tension and mobilization.
- Failure to remain in your position may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Services IAW (Chapter 75, Title 5 USC, FPM CH 753). Incumbent will remain in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority.
- Emergency-Essential Civilians are required to sign a DoD Form 2365. Single parents or families, where both parents are emergency-essential, are required to prepare a family care plan.
- Emergency-Essential Civilians are required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training, and weapons training. Required to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Drug testing is required.
- Employee may be required to serve on rotating shifts during emergencies or training exercises.
- Employee is subject to 24-hour recall to perform emergency response duties. May include tour(s) of duty on weekends or nights to support training for or during actual emergency operations.
- Travel outside local commuting area may be required up to approximately 25%.
- PCS costs may be authorized.
- Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.
- Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.
