Duties
Duties listed are at the full performance level of the position, duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Serves as the primary administrative point of contact and administrative services advisor for Aztec Ruins National Monument and Chaco Culture National Historical Park.
Works with park managers to program, track, analyze, and manage budgets and expenditures of financial account.
Performs a variety of administrative procedures, including payroll timekeeping, travel administration, procurement, purchasing, property management, record keeping, note taking, and document processing.
Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary.
Work Environment: The work is generally performed in an office setting.
Area Information:
Aztec Ruins National Monument is located in the San Juan Basin along the Animas River in northwest New Mexico, in Aztec, New Mexico. The town of Aztec has a population about 8,500. Weather is generally temperate, although extreme temperatures do occur at times. Housing is plentiful with prices for buying or renting being reasonable for the area. No Government quarters are available. Retail service, professional and medical services, churches, hospitals, and educational facilities are available, including a multitude of recreational facilities. The cities of Durango, CO and Farmington, NM are nearby providing various other services. Year-round recreational opportunities abound within a short commuting distance.

Chaco Culture NHP is located in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. The nearest towns are Bloomfield - 65 miles northwest, Farmington - 75 miles northwest, and Aztec - 70 miles northeast. The nearest grocery store is located at Crownpoint - 39 miles south. Schools, shopping, doctors, hospital, etc. are located in the towns of Bloomfield, Farmington, and Aztec. Closest elementary and high schools are 65 miles one way in Bloomfield. Roads from the south are all dirt for 19 miles. Precipitation for the area is minimal. Rain and snow are not common; and either can make the roads impassable. Aztec Ruins NM is located in the small town of Aztec, in San Juan County, New Mexico population about 8,500. All facilities are available in Aztec and Farmington, 15 miles distant. Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/18/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs office automation work and typing 40 words per minute (wpm) is required. Documentation of a typing test must be attached to your application. Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-0303-06: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes the following: typed and composed correspondence, memoranda, reports or other documents. Prepared travel authorizations and vouchers using an automated system such a Concur. Reviewed time and attendance reports for employees and assured reports are correctly entered into Quicktime or other automated timekeeping system. Purchased supplies, equipment and services utilizing a purchase card, under micro-purchases authorities. Provided information and assistance to management, the staff and the public.
For the GS-0303-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes the following: Consolidated budget data into a unit's annual budget; Monitored expenses during the year and recommended budget adjustment; Entered and tracked fiscal/ budget data into an automated system such as Administrative Financial System (AFS) and the Financial Business Management System (FBMS) or similar programs. Provided accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the unit; Served as a point of contact for a unit in coordinating with the Human Resources and ensured all HR related documents were prepared in accordance with established policy and procedures; Served as organizations expert on transactions and procedures related to property management.
