[email protected] The Office of Protective Services is a 24x7 operation. Police Officers are required to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and are subject to recall on a 24-hour basis. Police Officer candidates must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and under strenuous and potentially dangerous conditions.UNIFORMS AND APPEARANCE POLICY: NGA Police Officers are subject to uniforms and appearance standards, to include restrictions on tattoos and facial hair. Tattoos, body art, or bands anywhere on the head, face, or neck are prohibited. Additionally, any visible tattoo, body, art, or bands elsewhere on the body that are extremist, indecent, sexist, or racist are prohibited. NGA Police Officers choose to have facial hair must be neatly trimmed, no longer than a � of an inch in length.Additionally:1. Per the Lautenberg Amendment, applicants who have been convicted of domestic violence, or are under a restraining (protection) order for domestic violence are not eligible for employment as an NGA Police Officer.2. NGA Police Officers are required to carry, and utilize firearms, in performance of their official duties in accordance with policy, directive, and law. Police Officers may be required to take their assigned firearms home.3. Applicant must consent to and authorize NGA to perform a preliminary criminal and driving record background check via the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS), and Law Enforcement Defense Data Exchange (D-DEx) to determine employee eligibility.4. Successful completion of an NGA accepted police academy is required in order to maintain employment. Continued Service Agreement requiring completion of 3 years' service with the Office of Protective Services. Officers that leave the DoD, NGA, or the IC prior to completion of CSA may be required to reimburse the Agency all cost associated with required training. 5. Applicants are required to take and pass a medical physical examination conducted by the NGA Medical Unit. Applicants must take and pass an initial, polygraph examination, drug test, and receive a favorable security clearance adjudication before hire. Agency Police Officers are required to take an NGA administered medical exam and fitness test annually, and maintain a "pass" status while participating in random polygraph examinations and drug tests.6. Applicants are required upon hire, to have a valid driver's license and must maintain a valid driver's license throughout their employment with NGA.7. Applicants may be subject to a psychological examination conducted by the NGA Medical Unit as part of our pre-hire evaluation process.8. At least 21 years of age. Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Demonstrated ability or experience to interpret laws, policies, and/or instructions governing law enforcement, security, and/or force protection activities.2. Demonstrated ability or experience to adapt to rapidly changing environments while maintaining a level of situational awareness.3. Demonstrated ability and/or experience preparing reports/documentation.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: A minimum of 2 years of coursework beyond the high school level with at least 12 semester (18 quarter) hours, preferably in Criminology, General Law, Law Enforcement, Police Administration, Police Investigation, Police Law and Evidence. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 12 semester (18 quarter) hours in any area listed in option A, plus experience that provides knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of college work is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 2 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in law enforcement or security work that provides knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques. Experience can also include military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws; or other work that provided the required knowledge and skills related to law enforcement or security work. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: A valid driver's license and must maintain a valid driver's licenses while employed at NGA; Successful completion of an initial Physical Ability Test (PAT) as mandated by DOD Instruction 5525.15 and determined by command staff. -AND- Must successfully complete the Uniformed Police Training Program through the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). The following Certification must be maintained after your FLETC's training: Firearms Certification, Less-lethal weapons use Certification (e.g. monadock, oleoresin capsicum (OC); Successful completion of First Aid/CPR course.
