About the Position: Position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center within Director for Medicine Department of Medicine Office of the Chief, Bethesda Maryland.
Parking is limited alternate commuting is strongly suggested.
Duties
Provide comprehensive program management, expert assistance, advice, direction, implementation of quality improvement processes and oversight of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs.
Coordinate of all training; plans, manages, and coordinates clinical training rotations for interns, residents, and fellows, while adherence to all Department of Defense guidelines, and regulations.
Manage and maintain the accreditation processes; utilizes comprehensive knowledge of program-specific requirements, institutional requirements and the inspection cycle.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all GME informatics systems to ensure program and trainee information is professional and accrediting applications is kept current.
Monitor changes in trainee performance and status to track areas where additional training is needed.
Develop and manage the operational training budget.
Coordinate travel arrangements, using the Defense Travel System and inputs time and attendance for interns, residents, and fellows, using the Defense Medical Human Resources System - internet.
Maintain intern, resident, and fellows records.
Utilize automated healthcare systems for rotation block scheduling, duty hour tracking, residency related evaluations to include building of evaluation templates (staff surveys, 360 evaluations, Chief Resident surveys), resident training contracts.
Utilize Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Web Accreditation Data System (ADS) to review changes or updates in the GME program(s) policies and/or procedures.

Specialized Experience for GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: assist in working with a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program(s) within a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF); assist in coordinating all training and clinical training rotations for residents; assist in tracking and managing residents schedules; assist in confirming residents are in compliance with credentialing requirements; utilizing a variety of databases to prepare reports for leadership on the GME program.) This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Masters degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Medical Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Education. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes; working with a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program(s) within a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF); coordinating all training and clinical training rotations for residents; tracking and managing residents schedules; confirming residents are in compliance with credentialing requirements; utilizing a variety of databases to prepare reports for leadership on the GME program). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Medical Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. Duties described reflect the full performance GS-11 level. Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.
Time in Grade Requirement GS-09: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
Time in Grade Requirement GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
