The primary purpose of this position, ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-2854-11, is to serve as an Airborne Generator Technical expert. Developing technical procedures for test, troubleshoot, modify, repair, and overhaul of a variety of complex electrical components. Author process orders and forms as needed to ensure mechanics have accurate technical data.
Duties
Overhaul, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and verify parts, subassembly or component failure of electrical items and equipment.
Use a wide variety of test equipment while performing repair and overhaul tasks.
Read and study technical orders and approved technical data, such as manufacturers' manuals, specifications, prints, and schematics. Use tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, micro soldering units, crimping devices, and shop machinery.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Maintain records and document actions.

- Emergency overtime may be required. TDY’s may be required in the performance of duties.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800 Electrical Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods and bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh 25 pounds and over with assistance from other workers or with weight handling equipment. Must have good eye hand coordination.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee typically works in well lighted, heated, and ventilated area. Subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, strains, electrical shock, and abrasions while repairing and handling equipment. Exposed to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, fumes, oil, and grease. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as earplugs, face shield, gloves, hard hats, glasses, and safety shoes.
