You will serve as a GG-0080-12 Security Specialist at NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY in Arlington, VA, where you will be responsible for the protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, resources, processes, or other sensitive materials.

Duties

You will provide guidance, procedures, and training throughout the command's Navy Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) elements for validation of Navy SCI contracts. You will advise customers and leadership on security and disclosure concepts, principles, methodology, practices, violations, and infractions as it pertains to the Command and/or DoD elements. You will conduct security administrative duties, to include support in the execution of Preliminary Inquiry Reports of security violations, message traffic handling, and DISS and Scattered Castles database management. You will analyze, identify, and provide recommended solutions for workforce security education needs and program weaknesses. You will actively participate in the curricula development and delivery of Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA). You will research and develop instructions and other materials regarding a wide range of security programs to include SCI, SAP, polygraph, foreign disclosure, and technology transfer. You will serve as a command representative on internal and external security related working groups and committees.

Requirements

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Must obtain Security Professional Education Development (SPED) Program certification at the Security Fundamental Professional Certification (SFPC) level within 24 months of selection.
  • Travel required (within/outside U.S.)
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders, bend twist, and crawl along floorways and under deck plates and equipment.
  • Must have normal color vision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, such as: 1. Advise customers and leadership on security and disclosure concepts, principles, methodology, practices, violations, and infractions. 2. Conduct security administrative duties. 3. Provide solutions for workforce security education needs and program weaknesses. 4. Provide assistance in the oversight of Sensitive Compartmented Information security programs.
