About the Position: Serves as the Joint Base Chief of Staff at the Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. Manages and directs garrison operations of a joint, complex, multi-mission garrison with tenant activities including other Army and DoD agencies. Provides administrative program direction to various civilian directors and special staff involved in a wide variety of functional program areas. Formulates goals, policies, and objectives for the garrison.

Duties

Manage and direct the installation and tenant activity operations for a large sized multi-mission garrison, Installation Management Command. Provide direction and general management for the administration and operations of various functions and services critical to meeting the needs of the Installation Commander, tenant units, and the Army. Formulate goals, policies, and objectives for the garrison and implements an internal control system to produce a sound system of accountability. Provide administrative program direction to various civilian directors and special staff involved in a wide variety of functional program areas. Monitor the implementation of higher-level policies and guidance and make recommendations to adapt guidance for local situations.

Experience in providing program direction, objectives, strategies and evaluations for installation support functions, operations and activities that include financial management, contracting services, law enforcement and security, housing management, family and community activities, internal review, equal opportunity, and personnel functions, technical and professional services including public works, environmental, energy, fire and emergency services. Experience managing and evaluating the impact of operational factors, assessing fiscal soundness and taking appropriate action to ensure the operational success of installation programs and activities. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
