Duties

Serving as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor WS-4749-11 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Facilities Operations Branch (FOB), Facilities Management Division (FMD), under the Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD) and located in Glynco, Georgia. The primary purpose of this position is responsible to serve as a working supervisor providing planning, supervision, and coordination of facilities maintenance, repair, and improvement activities to support law enforcement training programs. Supervising employees in the performance of utility systems operation and maintenance mechanic work at the journeymen level and serves as a working supervisor providing work direction and assures work assignments are carried out and meet work schedules. Typical duties include: The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor tests, inspects and makes needed adjustments to work. Supervisor shall have ability to trouble shoot and operate electrical fixtures, wiring, and controls; ability to read and follow wiring ·diagrams; ability to work, plan, and schedule utility outages and related work. Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor shall have knowledge of mechanical theory and pneumatic systems. The trades involved require knowledge of shop mathematics to plan, compute, and layout projects. the ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and skill in the use of tools and equipment common to the trade.   • This position is Emergency Essential and required to sustain FLETC's operations under all conditions, e. g., in the event of a localized emergency situation, ensuring FLETC Continuity of Operations for Primary Mission Essential Functions.
  • Required to complete an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, within 30 days of starting your federal employment and annually thereafter as long as you occupy a position that requires financial disclosure reporting.
  • Must be able to meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards. You will be subject to a pre-appointment and annual physical examination as defined by the Medical Surveillance Program (MSP).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Acquisition Certification - Contracting Officer Representative (FAC-COR) Level II certification.

While there is no minimum amount of training or experience required, the applicant must have had experience, military or civilian, paid or unpaid, of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, WS-4749-11, Experience refers to being responsible and serving as a supervisor: planning, supervising, and coordination of facilities maintenance, repair. Supervising employees at the journeymen level performing utility systems operation, maintenance mechanic work and providing work direction assuring work assignments are carried out and meeting work schedules. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. Work Environment: The work is performed inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather. The work that maybe performed in these areas could involve the following type environments; dirty, wet, dusty, greasy and with inadequate lighting, heat, or ventilation. The employee may be subject to cuts, abrasions, burns, broken bones, electrical shock, infections, bites, exposure to inhalation or harmful chemical fumes, irritation of eyes, skin and respiratory tract, and the hazards of operating power tools and equipment. Discomfort is encountered when wearing protective clothing, gloves, or eye goggles. Physical Demands: The work requires office/admin as well as a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor may work from ladders and scaffolding. When operating equipment, the Supervisor may be under a great deal of strain from constant reaching, bending, turning, and moving of hands, arms, feet, legs, and by the vibration and jerking of the equipment. The incumbent caries, lifts, and handles parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally exceed 50 pounds.
