You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Resources Manager (Code 901), Service Shop (Code 990) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will perform work in at least two or more of the following trade practices: electrical, air-conditioning, plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry,
painting, and insulation.
You will operate and maintain HVAC systems and ductwork/vent inside radiological controlled areas.
You will prepare and coat different types of surfaces by matching, tinting, toning, and blending coating materials and agents.
You will produce requested carpentry and woodworking products to support shipyard maintenance work.
Requirements

I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks involving being skilled in at least two of the following trade occupations: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pipefitting, carpentry, painting, and/or insulation and I have the ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints.
I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including being skilled in the use of tools and equipment common to the trade and be skilled in the safety precautions, principals, and work methods associated with a maintenance mechanic.
I have the ability to perform common tasks including selecting appropriate tools and equipment to perform desired repairs to buildings and structures. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed and utilizing knowledge of the physical exterior and interior configurations of a large variety of submarines and surface ships.
