You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST (INFORMATION, INDUSTRIAL, CUI) in the Security Directorate, Deputy Undersecretary of the Navy (Intelligence & Security) (DUSN (I&S)) ofDEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY.

Duties

You will perform duties and have responsibilities as it relates to information security, industrial security, operations security and controlled unclassified information. You will be responsible for developing and administering of the Information, Industrial, Operations Security and Controlled Unclassified Information programs to include promulgation of DoD security policies within the DON. You will apply a comprehensive knowledge of Information, Industrial, and Operations security programs in support of the objectives and plans of the DON. You will develop regulations and policies for Information, Industrial, Operations security and controlled unclassified information, considering the effects of conflicting laws, policies, and regulations. You will serve as a source of security knowledge for the DON and for interpreting DoD and DON policy. You will assist in the development SECNAV policy and resolving issues involving conflicting security requirements for Information, Industrial, Operations Security and Controlled Unclassified Information. You will respond to problems involving implementation of security guidelines at lower levels. You will inspect security programs for adequacy, efficiency, and identifying need for improvement as it relates to information security and controlled unclassified information. You will prepare correspondence to support actions and decisions by DON Security Enterprise Senior Executives. You will provide advice to management in the application of security program principles, techniques, and procedures. Identifies problems related to information security programs, analyzes facts, and recommends solutions.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing and updating security policy and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Experience analyzing and resolving security training issues.
