About the Position: This position is located at Fort Eustis, VA. This is a STRL Demonstration Project Position. This position is located at the Aviation & Missile Center, Technology Development Directorate, Flight Test Division. Duties

Provide technical, analytical, and program maintenance management services in support of the Technology Development Directorate’s Flight Test Division. This includes technical problem solving via troubleshooting of complex aircraft systems. Responsible for all aspects of aircraft maintenance for flight test program supporting research programs involving the experimental flight testing of emerging aviation technologies on rotary-wing, fixed-wing and unmanned aircraft systems. Plan and track maintenance costs and schedules and manages maintenance resources and performance of the assigned multi-disciplinary team of military, civilian, and contract personnel for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Communicate with the customer, users, and stakeholders across the Aviation Maintenance Enterprise to help determine supporting objectives and scope. Manage professional development for the aviation maintenance team through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing based on required crew duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-04 level in the Federal Service which includes: (1) Serves as aircraft mechanic on rotary wing and/or fixed wing aircraft, providing for the initial installation and modification of non-standard aircraft components, systems, and assemblies on experimental, test or pre-production aircraft serving as testbeds; (2) Skills to coordinate with Information Systems providers, such as Aircraft Classification Number (ACN), Aviation Ground Support Equipment, Aircraft Survivability Equipment, Automated Weight and Balance System; (3) Maintain, disassemble, repair, and reassemble test, pre-production, modified and standard support rotary and fixed wing airframes, systems, assemblies and equipment as project workload dictates; (4) Inspects and identifies discrepancies and performs necessary correction by troubleshooting the source of malfunction and making necessary adjustments, repairs or replacement of defective components or parts; (5) Provides aviation maintenance expertise to the organization and to test teams with review of prototype / test article technical data packages.
