Duties
Serve as the Deputy Director and Supervisory Education Specialist of a unit comprised of 175+ military and civilian/academic professionals training 1000+ ARSOF Soldiers annually.
Provide sound leadership and guidance for the implementation, assessment and direction of all development and training.
Provides sound leadership and guidance and a superb leader of highly educated professionals.
Build effective teams of language professionals and military leaders to evaluate emerging trends in second language acquisition and cultural thinking and determines the effect on ARSOF foreign language and cultural skills and abilities.
Plan and direct academic operations in matters concerning the development of measurable foreign language proficiency and cultural competency for ARSOF.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Education and Training Specialist GS-1701-13:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in Education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Curriculum and Instruction.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in Education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Curriculum and Instruction, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above.
IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE BASIC REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Experience directing an instructional/educational program; Experience developing and recommending solutions for issues directly affecting the accomplishment of the educational programs and product objectives; Experience providing technical and administrative direction and leadership to assigned personnel such as developing performance plans and rating employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
