This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D1879000 and is part of the PA 258th Air Traffic Control Squadron, National Guard.

Duties
As a Supervisory Electronics Technician, GS-0856-12, you will direct the work of the Airfield Systems Flight and is accountable to the commander for the success in supporting the unit mission. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Recognize and take appropriate action to correct situations posing a threat to the health or safety of subordinates. Interface with and provide expert technical advice and guidance to commanders, higher headquarters, system engineers and associated government agencies on complex ATCALS equipment maintenance and support issues. Manage manpower, budget, logistic support, administrative, training, and vehicle resources related to the Airfield Systems Flight. Manage and direct administrative and documentation issues related to the Airfield Systems Flight. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for assigned personnel in accordance with all applicable safety standards and directives. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.
INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

Military Grades:
ENLISTED: E8 - E9
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training performing simple mechanical installations and adjustments. Experience which demonstrates the applicant's ability to recognize obvious malfunctions. Experience using common hand tools. Experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least36 months experience, education or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.
