This position is located within the Nursing Department at the Lawton Indian Hospital, Lawton, Oklahoma. The purpose of the position is to provide clerical support to the clinical staff and to function as a member of the Improving Patient Care teams throughout various outpatient clinics or hospital units as assigned. The position reports to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse.
Duties
Schedules patient appointments based upon provider schedule using a computerized scheduling system.
Uses the computer to verify appointment information and update appointment activity.
Accepts incoming calls and provides customer service by scheduling, providing information, or transferring caller to appropriate clinic or provider.
Communicates with healthcare team regarding appointment scheduling and patient requests.
Communicates with patients to update registration information.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Applicants must meet the following typing proficiency: 40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-04: One year of General Experience. General Experience is defined as: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
Two years of successfully completed education above the high school.
Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
