Duties

If selected, you will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office for District of New Hampshire. Typical work assignments will include: Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, diagnosing issues and resolving problems; Preventing and defending against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data; Managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; Designing, implementing, and managing internet and intranet websites; Monitoring functionality, security, and integrity of internet services, as well as managing internet servers; Planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and applications software, working closely with customers to ensure seamless installation and minimizing installation problems; Maintaining network architecture and infrastructure, to include configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, and switches, and monitoring network capacity and performance; Coordinating litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs; Providing input into IT planning and policy activities.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least ONE year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience may include experience performing configuration, installation, or management of network systems; installing Windows-based servers and maintaining existing servers; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; installing and maintaining compatible database systems. AND In addition to the specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
