You will serve as a SHIPWRIGHT LEADER in the WOODWORKING AND CARPENTER SHOP (64A) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
Duties
You will serve as a Shipwright Leader by applying a variety of methods, procedures, and techniques to build structures to support submarines during graving operations.
You will fabricate, install, and repair a variety of materials to support the refit of submarines.
You will report to the supervisor on work progress, technical and personnel problems, material, and manpower requirements.
You will change work plans, work assignments, and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and maintain schedule.
You will establish reference point and lines for mooring and drydocking of vessels.
You will maintain a current knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives pertaining to shop operations to answer questions of other workers.
You will fabricate a variety of wooden articles required for submarine maintenance along with various types of shoring and cribbing.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Incumbent may be assigned to any shift, shift hours, any basic workweek, and frequent overtime.
- Personnel will be performing tasks at heights requiring the use of fall protection required. Only use within the capacity range of 30 to 300 pounds can quality to utilize fall protection equipment.
- This position may require travel world wide at which time additional medical screening may be required.
- Must be able to maintain an IT-II level designation.

Instructing Shipwright Helpers and Trainees on proper work procedures.
Fabricating, installing, and repairing a variety of materials to support the refit of submarines.
Receiving and relaying instructions from the shop supervisor to the workers to ensure that schedules and completion dates are met in a proper and safe manner.
Reporting to the supervisor on work progress, technical and personnel problems, material, and manpower requirements.
Inspecting work while in progress and at completion.
Enforcing regulations and rules on conduct, safety, and housekeeping.
