This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Seattle Field Division, Seattle Washinton. This position(s) primary purpose is to performs a variety of cost accounting, purchasing agent, and customer service duties through the analysis and evaluation of accounting data. Maintains books, ledgers, journals, and related other accounting documents and files.

Duties

As a FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN, your typical work assignments may include: Analyzing fund balances in accordance with the DEA/DOJ accounting system other automated programs. Applying knowledge and understanding of accounting fundamentals, theories, and principles. Reviewing daily reports and reconciliations in order to make recommendations to protect the integrity of procedural or systems modifications. Purchasing of goods and services required by the Division within the allocated budget.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement.If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application. Applicants applying for the GS-06 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing automated systems to review, input, and retrieve data; 2) Performing accounting, budget, or financial management support duties related to recurring or standard transactions; 3) Researching routine problems and/or errors that require reconciling incomplete information; and, 4) Providing information on routing accounting transactions to customers. Applicants applying for the GS-07 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing analysis and evaluation of accounting data; 2) Utilizing automated systems to review, input, and retrieve data; 3) Identifying and reconciling complex discrepancies in financial data, systems and reports; 4) Recommending solutions regarding fiscal accounting activity; 5) Researching, interpreting, and applying regulations, policies, and procedures; and, 6) Providing information on accounting transactions as well as explanation on accounting procedures to customers. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
