You will serve as a RECREATION ASSISTANT in the SEMPER FIT PROGRAMS of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will assist with competitions, fitness clubs, and the development of other programs designed for all eligible patrons. You will act as a resource for patrons regarding fitness development. You will assist with preparation and management of the budget. You will report to supervisor on performance progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems. You will ensure employees are proficient in current job duties and responsibilities, and are aware of MCCS and fitness policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must be willing to obtain a certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 6 months of appointment.
  • You must be willing to obtain a certificate in Standard First Aid within 6 months of appointment.
  • You must be willing to obtain a certificate in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 6 months of appointment.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with the operation and management of a large fitness center, applying fitness policies and procedures daily, coordinating sports and recreation programs that will stimulate and sustain the interest of participants, and assist with the preparation and management of the budget. Education

You may also meet the minimum qualifications through education and/or combination of education and experience by satisfying one of the following for the GS-05:

A. Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education.
B. Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
